Several states permit international LL.M. graduates to take their bar examination, including Maryland, New York and California, as well as the District of Columbia. Some of the states that permit foreign lawyers to sit for the bar have additional requirements that may prevent an LL.M. graduate from taking the exam.
We offer the Analytical Writing Placement Examination each spring for freshmen who plan to enroll the following fall. California-resident freshmen must take the exam if they have not satisfied the requirement by the date of the AWPE exam. Students who are not from California may take the exam in the fall after enrolling at UC.
